Your
vessel is based at the award-winning Marina de Lagos, situated in
the historic old port city of Lagos at the breathtakingly beautiful
and relatively unspoilt western end of the Algarve in Portugal.
The Marina is situated between the old town and the expanse of Meia
Praia beach which skirts Lagos Bay for a distance of 5 km. From
the marina, there is a channel to the sea that passes by the town
and enters the Lagos Bay with its awe-inspiring rock formations
and hidden coves and beaches. In the summer, there is a prevailing
northerly wind which generally keeps the sea calm and flat. Cabo
de St Vincent, situated at the most south-westerly point of Europe,
lies 18nm distant, while Portimão and Vilamoura lies 7nm and 27nm
distant respectively.
The Marina de Lagos, together with the facilities
of the neighbouring fishing port, is fully equipped to provided
all technical and chandling support required by ocean going leisure
vessels, and, indeed, is often a first port of call for yachts making
transatlantic runs. A few minutes distant by foot lies the old town
of Lagos town, with its numerous bars and excellent restaurants.
The
Algarve is renowned internationally for its history, culture, mild
climate, sandy beaches and stretches of impressive cliff-lined coast.
The Algarve is an ideal destination for sport lovers, with its infrastructure
supporting a wide range of disciplines ranging from aquatic sports
through tennis and golf. The local golf-courses are of world-class
enown and most offer exquisite playing environments and views. Lagos
also has several top class golf courses within twenty minutes drive,
including Palmares just three kilometers away and the championship
course of Penina seven kilometers away.

Throughout the year the Algarve offers some of the best climatic conditions in Europe, thanks to the proximity of the Gulf Stream and North Africa. The region offers over 3000 hours of sunlight per year, an average of 8 hours per day. Rain primarily falls between November and March, although it may continue into April.
The annual temperature range in the Algarve varies between
15/35ºC. During
winter, the temperature never drops below 0º, and while your may
experience a few hours of rain, the sun soon returns warming protected
areas to 20 to 30ºC. The average temperature of the Atlantic Coastal
waters is in the order of 21/22ºC. In Summer, high temperatures
in the interior of Portugal may created areas of low pressure which
in turn can result in refreshing sea breezes along the coast.
